Students interested in pursuing a degree in nursing after Centre should expect to take courses in biology, chemistry, psychology, and other disciplines. In addition, Centre offers internships with local medical facilities and other health-related environments.

Nursing jobs are abundant nationwide in a wide range of settings, with many opportunities for growth. Centre provides guidance in applying to nursing programs around the country, including the Second Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing. However, Centre does not offer the BSN degree.

Centre students have been admitted to nursing programs around the country and Centre College has a dual-degree partnership with Vanderbilt University to offer students an avenue for obtaining a master’s degree of science in nursing (MSN). The 4-2 dual degree option allows students who are accepted to Vanderbilt’s master’s program to apply course credits from Centre to Vanderbilt for acceleration through the nursing program, obtaining the MSN in just two years. Students must fulfill eleven prerequisites at Centre, but upon entering the MSN program at Vanderbilt the credits from Centre apply toward the students’ degree.

Pre-nursing students should consult with faculty advisor Professor Peggy Richey.
