The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation annually awards 75 to 80 scholarships to undergraduate juniors pursuing a career in government or public service.

Background

The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation annually awards 75 to 80 scholarships to undergraduate juniors pursuing a career in government or public service. The scholarships are intended to help promising students to achieve the graduate or professional education necessary for such a career. Truman Scholars receive leadership training, graduate school counseling, preferential admission to some premier graduate institutions, and internship opportunities with federal agencies. In addition, Truman Scholars also enjoy exceptional access to employment opportunities and to significant contacts within the fields of government and public service.
 

Requirements

Competition for this coveted honor is open to students ranked in the top quarter of their class and occurs annually during the fall semester. Recipients must be United States citizens, have outstanding leadership potential and communication skills, and be committed to careers in government or the not-for-profit sector.
