Pearl Hall Construction Update
Plans for construction of Pearl Hall are rapidly moving toward completion. Updates will be sent out periodically through the course of this project to keep the Centre community informed as this exciting student residence moves from conception to reality. In addition, a Web section will be posted (similar to that for The College Centre) with plans, pictures, and other information. Hastings and Chivetta have conducted several work shops since Pearl Hall design work began last spring. These workshops have involved two committees made up of faculty, staff, and students that have been involved since the selection of thearchitects, and open forums for faculty, staff, and student input on design elements of the residence hall.
Following is a thumb-nail sketch of where the project stands at present:
The project is on schedule at this point; begin construction right after commencement; complete for occupancy late Aug. 2008.
• Ground breaking is scheduled for spring board meeting (April 13, 2007).
• Geo-technical surveys of the construction site have been completed,
• Design development has been completed.
• Structural and mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) interviews have been completed, and drawings have been drafted.
• LEED Certification is being pursued, but the College is requesting separate pricing which will include related costs, measurement and verification, and documentation.
• Interior design, material, and color selection has begun.
--Construction delivery methods are being considered. Meetings have been held with ARCO, a national company that provides single-source construction management services. The College retains the option of conventional construction methods if ARCO is not selected. |
