Construction Update

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
As spring term gets underway, progress continues on campus construction projects. Read on for Pearl Hall specifics, as well as information on planning regarding the Science and Math Center, the Campus Center, and the College's Norton Center for the Arts.

Pearl Hall
The following items were completed the week ending January 27, 2008:
• Waterproofing and foundation drain installation
• Underground utilities at mechanical court

The following items were in progress the week ending January 27, 2008:
• Piping for geothermal wells in Area #2 and #3
• Metal stud framing and mechanical and electrical rough-in at ground floor
• Metal stud framing and mechanical and electrical rough-in at 1st floor
• Fire sprinkler rough-in at 1st floor
• Installation of exterior masonry, metal roof deck and interior stairs
• Metal stud framing at 2nd floor
• Retaining wall installation
• Temporary heat installation

Science and Math
Center

The Science and Math Center Committee met on Feb. 4,
2008, with architects
Hastings and Chivetta.

 
Campus Center
The Campus Center Committee hosted an open forum on Feb. 4, 2008, from 6 to 7 p.m. for students, faculty and staff to join architects from Hastings and Chivetta as they shared the latest plans for the new campus center.
 
Norton Center
for the Arts

Norton Center Advisory Committee members Barbara Hall (professor of music) and Milton Reigelman (professor of English and director of international programs) visited Ruth Eckard Hall in Clearwater, Fla., on Jan. 30 to evaluate various updates the committee is considering.

President John Roush, George Foreman (Norton Center managing director and associate professor of humanities) and Mark deAraujo (Norton Center technical director and associate professor of dramatic arts) have visited Ruth Eckard Hall previously. John Cuny (vice president for finance) as also visited Eckard Hall.
