Construction Update
April 2008
|

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Though the spring rain makes grass, flowers, and trees grow more quickly, it
makes construction projects proceed more slowly. Still, if damply in some cases,
things are moving forward. Read on for Pearl Hall specifics, as well as
information regarding the Science and Math Center, the Campus Center, and
the College’s Norton Center
for the Arts.

Science and Math
Center
• In early March, the academic programs met with the architects from Hastings and Chivetta and the lab planner, Rick Heinz, to begin planning the details of individual teaching and research labs.
• Good progress was made in terms of customizing the design of each lab to the curricular needs of the individual programs.
•
Several improvements and refinements were made to the floor plan, as well. Following these changes, the tentative floor plans were distributed to all faculty and support staff in Division III for continued feedback.
• Other interested parties are welcome to ask Keith Dunn, associate professor of chemistry, for a personal viewing of the floor plans, but be aware that any such request is likely to be met with 30-60 minutes of unbridled, enthusiastic discussion.
•
The Science and Math Center Committee will meet again in May.
Norton Center
for the Arts
•
The committee currently is in the midst of determining the best way to have particular projects designed and overseen. |
