Centre College's campus is undergoing dramatic and exciting enhancements. As projects reach completion and others prepare to break ground, the next two years at Centre will be full of change and progress. Announced in spring of 2007, The Trustee Challenge continues the transformation of campus facilities that began with the groundbreaking for The College Centre (expansion and renovation of Crounse and Sutcliffe halls) in April 2003. This transformation has continued with the completion of Pearl Hall, a new 146-bed residence hall made possible by a gift from Centre trustee Robert Brockman '63. The residence hall is named in memory of Brockman's mother and grandmother, both of whom were named Pearl. The facility opened for students in August 2008. The Trustee Challenge will make possible the construction of a new campus center (replacing Cowan Dining Commons) and a new science building (adjoining Young Hall), as well as a refurbishment—and some renovation—of the College's Norton Center for the Arts. These projects are the top three facilities priorities of the College's new strategic plan. |
