AN UPDATE ON THE COLLEGE CENTRE
Recent Activity
The new lower level of Crounse is almost enclosed and openings to the existing lower level have been made. Steel work should start in early December.
The room that will house the new air conditioning equipment in Crounse has been enclosed on the interior, and cuts in the west wall for equipment are being made. The plan is to have the air conditioning equipment in the room near the first of the year.
Pipes are being winter-proofed in both Crounse and Sutcliffe. (Pipes exposed by the demolition of the fronts of the buildings are vulnerable to freezing if they're not protected. Some temporary enclosures are being constructed.)
Work on excavation of the lowest level of Sutcliffe has been hampered by the rain but should get back on track soon.
Mechanical and electrical systems in Sutcliffe are being checked for proper operation before the cold weather sets in. Earlier problems with overheating in Sutcliffe have been resolved.
Ken Keffer's Impressionism and Nature class installed a mosaic of Renoir's "Boating Party" just outside the north construction fence in front of Sutcliffe.
Where to find information on The College Centre
Information on the progress of The College Centre project will be provided throughout the school year. Look for student/faculty/staff e-mails, as well as information in Notesworthy and on the College's homepage. THERE IS ALSO A SECTION OF THE COLLEGE'S WEB SITE DEVOTED TO THE COLLEGE CENTRE. Go to http://www.centre.edu/cc for an overview of the project, current pictures and a photo archive, floor plans, an archive of update messages, and more.
Your patience and cooperation is appreciated as work moves forward on this major enhancement of the academic and athletic/recreation facilities of the College.
