AN UPDATE ON THE COLLEGE CENTRE
Recent Activity/Information
CROUNSE
The steel superstructure is about 85 percent complete. The roofing
framework and the connector to the third floor faculty offices will
be starting soon.
The metal decking for floors is here. The decking will be placed
and the concrete poured for the first floor within the next two
weeks if weather allows.
The main supply piping is being installed in the lower level; this
will be the main heat source for the new addition. The building
is expected to operate on the existing heat source as the new boilers
arrive and are installed. The new heat system should be ready to
operate for the 2004 fall semester.
Carpet is being laid and temporary walls are being relocated in
anticipation of the arrival of the new Space Saver shelving in the
lower level of the library. The shelving should be arriving soon.
Access to the shelving area will be through the open stairway on
the first floor. There should be no construction traffic in this
shelving area once the books are in place.
SUTCLIFFE
All foundation walls are poured, and interior column support pads
are being poured. The next step is the pouring of the floor which
should happen within the next two weeks. The final underground utilities
are being relocated to clear the way for the next pouring of concrete.
Supply wiring is being routed and may involve trench work across
College Street.
In general, The College Centre project is proceeding well.
Where to find information on The College Centre
Information on the progress of The College Centre project will be
provided throughout the school year. Look for student/faculty/staff
e-mails, as well as information in Notesworthy and on the College's
homepage. THERE IS ALSO A SECTION OF THE COLLEGE'S WEB SITE DEVOTED
TO THE COLLEGE CENTRE. Go to http://www.centre.edu/cc
for an overview of the project, current pictures and a photo archive,
floor plans, an archive of update messages, and more.
Your patience and cooperation is appreciated as work moves forward
on this major enhancement of the academic and athletic/recreation
facilities of the College.
