AN UPDATE ON THE COLLEGE CENTRE

Tentative completion dates for various sections of The College Centre. It should be emphasized that these dates are tentative. Weather, availability of materials, unforeseen construction problems, and many other factors could cause these completion projections to change significantly. However, these are current best estimates and should provide at least a rough idea of when major components of The College Centre will "come on line." (These dates are for completion of construction only and do not include time for physically moving furniture and relocating people into the completed areas.)

Recent Activity/Information
CROUNSE

The exterior is enclosed with sheeting (the yellow stuff); this is the first step in putting on the final exterior finishes. Waiting for windows and have begun installation of the pre-cast stone/trim. When this is finished, workers will be able to start the installation of bricks.

Shingles are being installed on the roof and should be finished in the next few days. Rain gutters have been installed.

Temporary air conditioning has been installed and is working well. The old mechanical equipment has been removed and the equipment rooms have been gutted and redesigned to accommodate the new equipment (boilers, air conditioners, pumps, etc.). This equipment has been received, set in place, and should be operational in the fall.

The old cooling towers outside the west corner of Crounse were removed to make room for new equipment to be brought into the building.

Efforts are being made to "dry-in" the building (enclosing walls to prevent rain from entering the building) so the drywall installation can take place. Electrical, plumbing, and sheet metal work is progressing well; this work needs to be completed before drywall is installed.

The construction is looking more like a real building with each passing day.

SUTCLIFFE
The steel framework is still progressing and should be finished soon. Most of the structure steel has been installed and the steel floor pans in the west end of the building have been installed. The concrete floors should be poured soon.

The performance gym has been gutted and duct work for the new air conditioning system is installed. The exhaust fans have been removed and the roof structure has been repaired. Interior ceiling painting has begun.

The new electrical service conduits have been installed. These will provide power to the new building and to the gyms that were previously serviced from the mechanical space that was torn down.

The temporary boiler that has heated Sutcliffe has been disconnected and removed from campus. If all goes as planned, the new boiler room and heating systems will be in operation this fall.

THERE IS ALSO A SECTION OF THE COLLEGE'S WEB SITE DEVOTED TO THE COLLEGE CENTRE. Go to http://www.centre.edu/cc for an overview of the project, current pictures and a photo archive, floor plans, an archive of update messages, and more.

Your patience and cooperation is appreciated as work moves forward on this major enhancement of the academic and athletic/recreation facilities of the College.
