Centre College Alumni host 7th annual Worldwide Centre Social
Regarded as the nation’s happiest graduates, Centre College’s loyal alumni enjoy most any opportunity to gather to celebrate their alma mater. This was evidenced in mid-April, as more than 350 alumni joined in 32 locations across the world for the College’s annual Worldwide Centre Social.
“The main purpose of the Worldwide Centre Social is to bring alumni together across the country and around the world to remember Centre,” says the College’s Development Fellow Jocelyn Kantor ’15. “Centre alumni, young and old, can always find something in common to chat about during this gathering.”
The event, which began in 2010 and was formerly called the Centre Worldwide Happy Hour, was hosted by alumni in 26 cities across the United States, including several Kentucky locations as well as Albuquerque, N.M., Dallas, Denver, Gainesville, Fla., San Antonio and San Francisco.
There were also six international locations—Cape Town, South Africa; Garmisch, Germany; Geneva, Switzerland; London, England; Madrid, Spain; and Seoul, South Korea.
Approximately 350 alumni registered for the event, and a number of others attended without RSVP, making this year’s Worldwide Social larger than last year’s by almost 100 registrants.
“We added more international locations and four more U.S. options,” explains Kantor. “In previous years, this was primarily a young alumni event. Opening the event to all alumni definitely increased participation.”
