Communications office welcomes two new staff members
On Monday, June 13, two new staff members joined Centre College’s office of communications. Laura Coleman Pritchard ’05 began work as Centre’s new media relations coordinator, and Elizabeth Trollinger ’11 began work as the College’s new communications fellow.
Pritchard was an outstanding Centre student who earned a B.A. in government, which she followed soon after by earning a Master of Arts degree in Communication, with an emphasis on mass communication and political communication, from the University of Kentucky. She began her career as the associate editor for the Council of State Governments, worked as an account intern for Preston-Osborne, was the public information officer for the Kentucky Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission and most recently served as the marketing and public relations manager at the Kentucky Historical Society.
As media relations coordinator, Pritchard will help tell Centre’s story through traditional media outlets, in addition to online news sources and blogs. She will also play an important role in continuing Centre’s strong social media presence, specifically on Facebook and Twitter, and contribute to other marketing activities such as developing recruitment material, paid advertisements, writing, editing and more.
Trollinger, who graduated last month with a B.A. in English and history, has a strong academic record and much leadership experience as a former editor of the Cento student newspaper. She studied abroad with the Centre-in-London program during her junior year and was involved in a variety of clubs and organizations on campus, including the TOMS club, CentreFaith, the Student Advancement Board and Vantage Point.
In her new position, Trollinger will assist with research and writing for web stories and other publications, website maintenance, media inquiries, special projects and event management.
