In the event of any conflict between the information presented in this site and the provisions of any legal plan document, the plan provisions as stated in the legal plan document will prevail.
Active full-time employees and their covered family members are eligible to participate in the College’s health insurance plan administered by Anthem Insurance.
Life insurance provides individuals and their families with financial protection. The need for life insurance protection depends on individual circumstances and financial situations. The College pays the premium for an amount of insurance equal to one and one half times an eligible employee’s base annual salary. An employee may voluntarily elect to add either one or two additional units of insurance (one “unit” of insurance equals an employee’s base annual salary), of the employee’s pay via payroll deduction through Cigna Insurance at affordable group rates.
All staff & faculty, who work a minimum regular schedule of 20 hours per week during the academic year, have the option of participating in one of two Dental Plans administered by Delta Dental of Kentucky.
Eligible employees have the opportunity to purchase vision coverage through Anthem. This program has been designed to provide you and your covered family members with quality, professional vision care at a savings to you.
Long Term Disability
Centre College recognizes that situations arise which could cause an employee to miss work for an extended period of time. The College provides eligible employees with long-term disability insurance after one year of service. This coverage will give you the peace of mind that you will be adequately covered should something out of your control cause you to miss work.
For eligible faculty and staff the College makes 12 equal payments to TIAA/CREF with each payment representing 10% of the employee’s base salary. Additionally,Faculty and Staff may elect to make a payroll deduction and forward that amount to a Supplemental Retirement Annuity account within the limits of sections 403(b) and 415 of the Internal Revenue Code.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Flexible spending accounts, or FSAs, provide eligible employees with an important tax advantage that can help you pay health care and dependent care expenses on a pretax basis. By anticipating your family’s health care and dependent care costs for the next plan year, you can lower your taxable income.
Holidays and Paid Time Off
The College currently has 11 paid holidays. Prior to the start of each academic year, the College determines which holidays will be recognized and the specific days the holiday will be celebrated. In addition to the college-wide holidays, each employee has four (4) floating holidays per academic year available to schedule in advance with their supervisor’s approval. Also, eligible employees earn paid time off based on years of service.
Individual course or courses that are part of a degree, licensing, or certification program and related to an employee’s current job duties or a foreseeable-future position in the organization are eligible for educational assistance. Additionally, the College offers on-campus classes and seminars throughout the year on a variety of topics including, but not limited to, leadership development, retirement planning, software classes, wellness activities and policy updates.
