CONVO: Entrepreneurship, Centre, J. Alfred Prufrock
Date(s) - 04/03/2017
Young Hall - Auditorium (Room 113)
Entrepreneurship, Centre, and J. Alfred Prufrock
Like J. Alfred Prufrock, Terena Bell is no prophet. But she is an entrepreneur and, as a Centre alumna, says everything she needed to know about entrepreneurship she learned from Prufrock. For example, you can not start your own business without daring to disturb the universe — not just the one around you by product innovation but your own physical, psychological, and financial universes as well. Success requires constant change: “[A] hundred indecisions, And…a hundred visions and revisions.” Tech start-ups didn’t exist in Eliot’s time, so for a literalist, founding them is the last thing The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is about. But that’s where Centre comes in. Whether you come because you want to be an entrepreneur, love Prufrock, or simply need the convo credit, come hear two-time tech founder Terena Elizabeth Bell ‘99 share her story.
