CENTRE ASSOCIATE OF THE YEAR FOR 1998
THE CONTRIBUTORS TO THE FRONT AND CENTRE CAMPAIGN
This year’s Associate of the Year was born in Danville, Kentucky in 1954. And in Gallatin, Tennessee in 1959. And in Louisville, Kentucky in 1921. And Portsmouth, Ohio in 1938. Our Associate of the Year is a member of the faculty and staff at Centre. He is a partner in a major New York City law firm. She works as a high school guidance counselor, attends graduate school, and is a physician.
He graduated from Centre in 1945, 1960, 1978, and 1997. She graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1976, and also earned a law degree from the University of Chicago, a medical degree from Vanderbilt, and a Ph.D. in government from the University of Virginia.
Who is this extraordinary person? It’s you. And you. And you. Centre honors as the Associate of the Year for 1998 the more than 10,000 alumni, trustees, current students, faculty and staff, parents, and friends who contributed directly to the success of the Front and Centre Campaign. Many of you gave your talent and time, either as volunteers or as members of the faculty, staff, and student body. Many of you donated generously of your financial resources. Many did both.
We come from a variety of backgrounds, but we all share two things – a belief in the special power of a Centre education and the satisfaction that, through the Front and Centre Campaign, we have done much to sustain and enhance that power. Thank you for all you have done, and continue to do, for Centre College.
