Centre Young Associate of the Year 2012
AUSTIN THOMPSON ANDERTON
Several years ago, we decided to begin recognizing a Young Associate of the Year. In creating this new recognition, we also decided to set the bar for selection at a high level. The honoree would not only have graduated within the past ten years but also would have achieved an impressive record of professional success, civic engagement, or service to Centre – and preferably all three. Our Young Associate of the Year for 2012 epitomizes the ideal recipient for this recognition.
A member of the Centre College Class of 2001 and double major in English and Spanish, Austin Thompson Anderton was a leader on campus. An athlete, she was a three-time NFHCA All-American Division III field hockey player and captain of her team. She also was chosen to represent Centre in the 2000 North/South All-Star game. Additionally, she was active in Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, participated in study abroad in Greece, and served as Senior Campaign Chair.
Professionally, she has compiled an impressive record of achievement in banking and wealth management. Having first attained vice president status with National City Bank and then PNC, she now serves as Vice President – Wealth Management Banking Team Lead with Merrill Lynch Globalwealth and Investment Management.
Her community involvement includes serving on the Board of Trustees, Louisville Collegiate School. She also has served Louisville Collegiate School as alumni chair of both its Gala Committee and its Annual Fund. Additionally, she has served as a “Friends of Speed” committee member for The Speed Art Museum, and she is a youth volunteer for Second Presbyterian Church.
As an alumna, her service to Centre has been exemplary. She is secretary of the Alumni Association Board of Directors and a member of the leadership team for the Centre Club of Louisville. She also has served as a member of the Class of 2001 Reunion Planning Committee and has twice participated in GOLD Rush, a career planning service staffed by young alumni (i.e., Graduates of the Last Decade).
She and her husband, Philip Anderton, Centre College Class of 1999, have two children, Jack and Mary Sterling. The family lives in Louisville.
In grateful recognition of her record of professional achievement, civic engagement, and service to Centre, we are pleased to recognize Austin Thompson Anderton as Young Centre Associate of the Year for 2012.
