Robert T. Brockman

Mr. Brockman is a member of the Centre Class of 1963 and Sigma Chi fraternity. He has been a member of the Centre College Board of Trustees since 1998 and serves as Chairman. In 2009, fifty years after Mr. Brockman first arrived on campus, Centre dedicated Pearl Hall. Pearl Hall is a residence hall funded by Mr. Brockman, in memory of his mother and grandmother, both of whom were named Pearl. When he first arrived at Centre College in the fall of 1959, the first building he saw when he stepped off the train was Breckinridge Hall. Mr. Brockman later said that Breck Hall was the nicest place he had ever lived as a young man and wanted Pearl Hall to reflect many of the qualities of that building. Mr. Brockman also established the Pearl Meader Brown Scholarship in memory of his grandmother. The scholarship is awarded to students who have financial need, who are residents of states other than Kentucky, and who have demonstrated achievement in both academic and extracurricular activities. He and his wife, Dorothy, live in Texas.
