James H. Evans
Mr. Evans graduated from Centre in 1943 with degrees in economics and history and went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago in 1948. He retired as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Union Pacific Corporation. Mr. Evans has served the College as a class agent, a reunion committee member, and an admission match volunteer. Mr. Evans spent a number of years serving the Centre College Board of Trustees and is a Life Trustee. He also served as Honorary Co-Chair for the Campaign for A More Perfect Centre. Mr. Evans received a Centre Honorary Degree in 1987 and was awarded the Isaac Shelby Medallion in 1999. Mr. Evans and his wife, Mary, established the Eric B. Evans Memorial Scholarship in memory of their son, to be awarded to worthy and able students who have financial need.
