Sallie M. H. Kellems
Sallie graduated from Centre in 1957 with degrees in English and Spanish. She later earned her degree in library science and was appointed the Kentucky State Law Librarian. As an alumna, Sallie has served on the alumni association board of directors, volunteered as a reunion committee member, hosted her class reunion party, and served as an admission volunteer. Sallie is one of many Centre alumni in her family, including her parents, sister, brother, and daughter. The James Lee Howard Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded as a first preference to students who have demonstrated academic achievement at Centre, but who did not enter with a merit scholarship award, was established by friends in memory of Sallie’s late husband, who was a member of the Centre Class of 1956.
