John H. Newman

John graduated from Centre in 1966 with a degree in government and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia in 1969. An active alumnus, John has hosted numerous alumni events in New York City, served as a Brown Scholar Host, represented Centre at the presidential inauguration at Columbia University, volunteered in the admission match program, and served on his reunion committee. Since 1991, John has been an active member of the Board of Trustees. John’s mother, Anne Holloway Newman, and his sister, Mary Anne Newman Womble, graduated from Centre in 1933 and 1970, respectively.
