Peggy Purdom Patterson


Peggy graduated from Centre in 1972 with degrees in English and government and went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky in 1976. She retired as a U.S. Magistrate Judge, and she was the first female named to the Federal Judgeship in Kentucky. Peggy has served Centre as a reunion committee member, an Alumni Association director, an admission match volunteer, a Brown Scholar volunteer, and a member of the Board of Trustees. She also served on committees for the Front & Centre Campaign and the Campaign for A More Perfect Centre. She and her husband, Charles, established the Edgar N. and Ben Alice Purdom Scholarship in memory of her father and in honor of her mother. It is awarded to worthy full-time students.
