James E. Russell
Jim graduated from Centre in 1958 with a degree in biology and received his MD from Vanderbilt University in 1962. He is a retired orthopedic surgeon. Jim has served Centre as a class agent, an admission match volunteer, a member of his reunion committee, and as a participant in both diversity and strategic planning focus groups.
The former Sue Treadway graduated from Centre in 1959 with a degree in biology. Sue has volunteered her time and energy to Centre as president of the Alumni Association, a member of her reunion committee, an admission match volunteer, and as a participant in both diversity and strategic planning focus groups. In 1996, Sue received the Distinguished Alumna Award.
In addition to being Centre Science Fellows, Jim and Sue also established the Treadway-Russell Scholarship, which is awarded to full-time students at Centre College who are majoring in biology, chemistry or physics.
Their son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Susan Pitsenberger Russell, both graduated from Centre in 1983, and their grandson, Jay Russell, graduated in 2010.
