Margaret Menges Stroup


Margaret graduated from Centre as valedictorian in 1960 with a degree in history. She went on to earn her master’s degrees in history from Indiana University in 1961 and in government from the University of California at Berkeley. Margaret is retired as the Director of Strategic Planning for the Monsanto Fund. She has served Centre as a member of her reunion committee, a class agent, an admission volunteer, as a director for the Alumni Association, and she is also a member of the College’s Board of Trustees. In 1987, she was presented with the Distinguished Alumna Award. Margaret established the Margaret Menges Stroup Scholarship, which is awarded to a declared history major, with preference to a student planning to enter the field of teaching either on the secondary or college level. Her sister, Ethel Menges Lloyd, is a member of the Centre College Class of 1955. Margaret and her husband, Keith, reside in Florida.
