Katherine Sturgill ’14 interns with women artisan group in Mérida, Mexico
“What I have learned in working with these women is that although the purpose of ImpulSur is to empower these women to sell their products, the transaction is not what drives them. It is the relationships they have built with one another that are their impetus.”
Katherine Sturgill ’14 writes for Yucatan Living about her experiences working with ImpulSur, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women of Southern Mérida, Mexico, create and sell their products. Sturgill is currently working there as an intern during CentreTerm, the College’s three-week January term.
