Longtime friends return to Centre for book signing

1964In the fall of 1964, seven women arrived at Centre College for their first year, unaware that a friendship would bloom among them, and more than a half-century later, they would still be friends.

All members of the Class of 1968, Jo Diffey Alexander, Lindy Lyndon Boeck, Leslie Lawton Greenwood, Pam Racke Rogers, Carol Maddox Smith, Judy Skaggs Wright and Libby Dedman Young became fast friends, but grew apart once they left Centre. Sadly, the death of Young in 2008 from terminal cancer brought them back together.

Once they reunited, Boeck’s husband became intrigued by the story of their friendship and wanted them to write their story.

“1964 All Over Again: Centre Girls Reunite” by Greg and Lindy Boeck explores the friendship of these seven women and their college journey.

During Centre’s Homecoming Weekend 2017, the Boeck’s, along with the rest of the friend group will host a book signing in the Norton Center for the Arts on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
