On Wednesday October 24 at 4:10 p.m. in
the Vahlkamp Theatre (basement floor of Crounse Hall) David Anthony will speak on "The
Origins of the Indo-Europeans."
This talk will tie together many types of evidence (archaeological, literary, linguistics, artistic, etc.) to study
the early Indo-European peoples in Western Asia and beyond. The
Indo-European family of languages comprises English, Greek, Hindi, Russian,
French, Romanian, and many other languages; Indo-European languages are spoken by approximately 3 billion
people today. Professor Anthony will go back to the earliest
documented ÒoriginsÓ of the people who spoke Proto-Indo-European (the ancestor
of all the modern Indo-European languages).
This event is free and open to the public.
