Environmental Studies
The environmental studies program offers an interdisciplinary exploration of the myriad ways by which the human species influences, and is influenced by, its non-human surroundings. It allows students to examine some of the most serious environmental questions facing human society. While searching for effective solutions, students gain an understanding of the scientific, societal, and ethical dimensions of the relationship between humans and their environment. This interdisciplinary program therefore incorporates ideas and information from a wide variety of fields such as public policy, economics, anthropology, history, philosophy, religion, ecology, biology, and chemistry.
Any current junior or senior can declare an environmental studies major, and sophomores will be able to declare it in spring 2013.
