The Study of History at Centre

Honors & Awards
Phi Alpha Theta is an international history honors society. Centre's chapter, Iota-Omega, inducts new members every spring. To become a member, undergraduate students must complete at least 12 semester hours in history (4 courses) with a GPA of at least 3.1 in history, have a GPA of 3.0 or better overall, and be in the top 35% of the class. Membership is not limited to history majors.
The John C. Young Scholars Program is a senior honors program which enables a select group of outstanding senior students to engage in independent study and research in their major field or in an interdisciplinary area. The scholars work closely with a faculty mentor and receive financial support for research and travel. They present their results at a public symposium in late spring, and their papers are published in journal form by the college.
The William A. Davis Memorial Prize is presented to the senior with the best record in American history.
