Nerves and excitement

It’s midnight, and in 7 hours and 29 minutes my plane will (hopefully) be taking off. The past few days have been hectic as I scurry around saying goodbye to everybody, cleaning my room, and packing my stuff (everything I should have done six weeks ago). So now that it’s midnight and everybody is asleep, all I can do is sit, wait, and twiddle my thumbs aimlessly.

For the past week, I’ve felt a mixture of nerves and excitement. Every time I think about college, my stomach does this weird floppy thing. My nerves and excitement are constantly battling:

  • Nervous about meeting new people but excited about making new friends

  • Nervous about living away from home but excited about exploring a new place

  • Nervous about keeping up my grades but excited to be taking college classes.

But right now, all of these feelings have bubbled down and the whole situation feels a little surreal. I really can’t believe that after hours of preparation, I’m finally going to college.
