New challenges

I have officially survived the first half of my first term of college. Fall has brought many new challenges—challenges that I have stared down, overcome, and conquered. My recent feats include:

  • Taking my first college midterm. Just the sound of the word “midterm” made me want to hide under my bed. But, I plopped myself down in the library, studied hard, and found that midterms aren’t as scary as they may sound.

  • The cold weather. Um…lets just say that it doesn’t get this cold in San Diego. While parting with my flip-flops was hard, getting a new jacket and winter clothes was really exciting!

  • Escaping “Grey Kitty.” During fall break, a friendly cat that I called “Grey Kitty” tried to follow me into my dorm. I felt bad for leaving it outside, but cats are not allowed inside the dorms. So, while Grey Kitty was distracted, I quickly snuck inside.

What’s great about college is that not everything that you learn takes place inside the classroom. Challenges will come your way, and the best way to handle them is to treat them as learning experiences.
