A CentreTerm day
9:07 - Hear alarm (a.k.a. Sophie texting me repeatedly warning
me I’m going to miss breakfast.)
9:15 - Ignore sound of buzzing phone and listen to sound of old joints in my
body whining. Go back to sleep.
10:00 - Wake, wash, dress, find food NOW!
11:00 - Realize I fell asleep leaning against my bed: fail. Look for food again. Practice story for class.
11:15 - Talk to check-in with work study.
12:00 - Class: Storytelling.
2:00 - Take a break. Chug half of Gatorade, realize I love my class
more and more every day, then go back to class.
3:01 - Walk from class. See students from The Crusades class marching off to battle. Try to
nonchalantly take pictures...not really working.
3:05 - Order quick lunch at The Everyday Cafe.
3:20 - Remember that The Everyday Cafe is not quick.
3:30 - See Japanese CentreTerm class bowing to cars as they
cross the road—in kimonos. Love it!
3:33 - Still laughing.
4:40 - Get to track & field practice. Don’t hurt as horrible as yesterday.
5:47 - Explain to coach how I tried AGAIN to get in the ice
bath yesterday . She encourages me and tells me that on Monday she’ll get in
with me.
5:48 - Realize that on Monday coach is going to see
me cry.
6:00 - Meet for dinner. Eat a
bowl of cereal while listening to Cynthia pick a poem for tonight’s poetry slam. Notice everyone leaving. Cry in despair.
6:20 - Friends going to Guady’s, insist I must go. I
protest! I must wash! Continue to haggle. Resolution: I’ll meet them
there after I wash.
6:38 - Realize I lost my keys, frantically call people.
Roommate lets me in, see keys on desk: fail.
7:00 - Outside at Guady’s. Wait forever. Forever.
8:00 - Drive too fast but get Cynthia to
the poetry slam just in time.
8:00 - Poetry slam. Love George Watsky!
9:30 - Realize the night is young and I have a few
precious hours before I have to get back to my schedule. Thankful for
everything and loving life.
