"Personal Education, Extraordinary Success"
We’ve all seen that phrase. On t-shirts, mugs, flyers, and books. You may even have a shirt of your own with the saying on it. If you find yourself at Centre College, not only will it appear on t-shirts and mugs, but it will also come to life.
I’ve learned, among many others things here at Centre, that education comes in many forms. From making friends, to graphing data, to learning how to do a load of dark laundry on your own—each requires some amount of learning and growing. What sets Centre College apart from other institutions in the world is the extent to which such education is personalized—whether we see it every day or not.
Making friends has been nothing but easy for me this year. In such a small, close-knit environment, it can be done very easily. I even consider some of my professors “friends.” Classroom education is amazing. I find the work and workload to be just right—not too much so that I have to spread myself too thin, and not too little that I get bored.
Doing laundry is a little different. I learned how to insert the quarters and soap into the washing machine pretty quickly! From the classroom, to the laundry basement, to the dining hall workers who now know me by name, the extent to which this college is personal is what makes it as valuable as it is.
What makes my time here at Centre College that much more valuable is what I know I’ll find when I graduate: success. On almost all fronts—one can tell by simply walking around campus—the students here are successful. Whether socially, musically, athletically, or academically, we each are successful. Conversations in the weight room often revolve around what happened in class that day, while nearly everyone can name the people in his/her graduating class by first name. Such success in such a variety of mediums points to bright futures for everyone!
So, as a personal invitation: (your name here), why don’t you come and find success with us? I promise, we’ll make it personal!
