Things are coming to a close My dad is a doctor, or so he thinks. He's really a grill salesman for the Holland Grill Co. but part of him thinks that it's very amusing to go around diagnosing people with the "heebie-jeebies." My family is sort of nuts...one day they decided to go get tattoos...as a family bonding activity. Quirky times with the family provide a pretty good insight into how I'll spend my last summer, before college threatens my existence as a sane and rational person. Aside from a road trip with my friends to South Carolina, I plan to spend the summer with my family and all of their eccentricities. I spoke at my graduation in front of about 3,000 people and during that time I could see some things coming to a close. Friends, family, and high school are huge parts of my life that are all getting ready to change forever. I never realized how finite life is. For instance, my best friend leaves in exactly six days...for Costa Rica. She's going to help people in another world, and it's just too bad I can't be with her to experience it all. I think that we're all bound for a purpose and she's found hers and at an early stage in her life. She has found her path and that's that, hence finite. While I do have some wonderful friends that are coming to Centre, most of my close friends are going far away. USC, Columbia, Princeton, Georgetown, EKU, WKU, are the popular choices. My decision to come to Centre was something that came easily. As students we hear all the time that you shouldn't conform to fit a college, but the college should fit you and Centre College was the only one that made the cut. It was the only school that fit with my personality, my intellect, and my needs. As college approaches, I find myself becoming more nervous. Is it going to be a cakewalk or will it kick my butt. Is Chem. 135 the right choice or should I have taken 131? The new Humanities course about French thought is interesting, but should I take it? With so many choices I'm left with only one decision and that is whether or not to be excited for an upcoming year doing something new and the answer is, OF COURSE!
