A place to get away Classes are hard and keeping a routine is even harder. I'm not taking the most rigorous course load that I could be taking, but nonetheless I have papers due all the time and it seems like tests are always looming ominously on the horizon. Currently I'm taking chemistry, calculus, government, and humanities. The classes are engaging and great, but I just get so tired sometimes. I've become a fond lover of napping and have found that naps are often the only source of hope you have for sleep when your schedule is bogus.
Aside from classes, I'm serving as an SGA Freshmen Representative and enjoy that immensely. College student government is so different from high school. You HAVE to be active and the people you represent actually care if you are doing a good job, especially at a place like Centre where it seems people are always talking about school...even on the weekends.
I do, however, have a place to get away from college and relax while doing something useful. I volunteer at a local veterinary hospital and there is honestly nothing more exciting than getting to play with dogs and hang out with awesome vet people. So far, I've seen a cat spay, learned about the drugs they use, and have even helped with an autopsy. I couldn't have asked for a better place to learn and experience the real world aspects of my career plans. |
