Such cruel lives we lead

Long story very short? Puerto Rico was fantastic and I already wish that I were back there. I was not eaten by pythons, stung by stingrays, or even attacked by sharks. I did manage to burn myself with cooking oil...not so exciting but pretty painful. I gained a lot from this trip and I'm glad Centre could make it possible for me to study abroad...MY FRESHMEN YEAR. The bad part? I went from being in an 85-degree environment to a cold and bitter 30. Such cruel lives we lead. However, with the start of a new semester I'm already becoming part of something new and fantastic!

Second semester is here and I'm a new associate of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. Already I'm meeting people that will probably be my best friends for years to come. The men of this fraternity are the leaders of the school. Phi Tau's are men of character and to be able to share in that is something that I'm already appreciating. Rush was a couple of days but the real fun has started and PLEDGING is here. I can't speak of it, but know it's life-changing. Centre's Greek Life, while not at all exclusive towards non-Greeks, is a very unique experience. It allows you to explore and find where you fit in before asking you to choose right away. All of first semester is meant to introduce you to the different fraternities and sororities without expecting a commitment from any individual. This works because students are able to establish their grades sans the added stress of pledging.

The next couple of weeks are going to be rough, busy, exhausting. I do believe, however, that they will also be some of the best of my life. I went from being in an 85-degree environment to a cold and bitter 30. Such cruel lives we lead.
