Through MySpace, Facebook, Xanga, and other addictive websites, blogging has quickly become the hottest new trend in our society. Everyone wants his or her life story to be read and appreciated. In much the same way, my autobiography is my life written for an audience, being the students of Centre College and all you other “voyeurs.” So...here’s my life in the proverbial “nutshell.” I grew up in Lexington, where the men are stronger, the women are better looking, and in general people are just better...just kidding. However, in my family, growing up meant witnessing A LOT of strange things. My dad pretends to be a doctor and diagnoses my friends with the “heebie-jeebies,” my mom and my sister STILL ask the family to judge who can dance better to Kelis’ “Milkshake,” and my brother can usually be found flexing in front of the bathroom mirror with a “gangstah” gaze. And then, there’s me...a lowly college freshman who really likes all of my classes, but still wishes that my friends were here to share it with me. Which brings me to an important point: throughout all my life I’ve been influenced by the friends that I’ve grown up with since 2nd grade. Everything from first crushes, dances, and heartbreaks have been shared with people who are now all across the country (and even one who is across the world). Now...I get to share with you. My uncle, a three-time Pulitzer winner, told me that while “journaling” can be the most difficult form of writing, it can also be the most influential. I don’t know if I can influence you, but I hope you’ll revel in taking this journey with me.
