Balancing act

The past few weeks have really started to gear up in the academics and extracurricular departments. I could easily handle it if just one of those started to get harder, but both at the same time...whew! There was one week when I had so much to do, it felt like I didn't see any of my friends except during meal times, which were cut short too due to more homework. It's gotten better this past week, because all of the midterms and midterm papers are finished.

When I say that academics geared up, I meant that I had to write a longer paper and study for several tests that were all before fall break.

When I say that extracurricular activities geared up, I mean that we're doin' more than just planning during meetings now. For mock trial, we have the case and are reading it and trying to analyze it so we can get a theme. I'm also in CentreFaith, which is an interfaith group on campus that is working on a Hanukkah service and having discussions about different religious views.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, I volunteer at the regional hospital in Danville. I work in the fundraising area and also the radiology department. It's been lots of fun so far and I'm able to volunteer now that tennis is over in the afternoons for the fall. Tennis will be back in the spring, but until then I will take advantage of the extra time I have.

The way I've kept up with it all is just by writing down all that I have to do in my assignment notebook. I just look in there and plan out what I have to do. I pretty much would die without it, but that's just the way I do it. Some people can remember those things, but I can't, so I write down everything from calculus to haircuts, which speaking of...I'm off to get one now.
