Come see for yourself Wow, it seems like forever since our last correspondence. The SparkNotes version of my last month is as follows: finals were not as painful as anticipated; Daniel Craig was the epitome of suave-debonair in Casino Royale; and Christmas break was consumed with two-a-day practices and games. Luckily for my sanity, I had a wonderful week at home, in the middle of basketball chaos, where I could enjoy time with family and friends, and reflect upon all that Centre has taught me thus far and what it offers this coming new year.
Spending a week on campus without the rest of the student body was lonely. Once finals were over there was nothing going on besides basketball practice. No classes, no club meetings, no parties, no nothing. Our hard work paid off on December 13th when we beat Spaulding for a second time this season. In addition to earning another win, it was great to play in Louisville because my family and close friends came to support the team.
After devoting all my energy to basketball for over a week, I couldn't wait to go home to be with my family (and sleep in my own bed again!). Being away from home made me realize how much I missed simple things such as downtime, shopping with my sister, eating meals with family, and sleeping in.
Later in the week I had lunch with Rachel, a teammate from high school. I had the opportunity to talk to her about her upcoming college choice which allowed me to share all I'd learned in my process of choosing a school. I can't believe that only a year ago I was in the mist of applying to college and considering where I wanted to invest the next four years of my life. Although I've had the opportunity to play basketball and that influenced my decision, the more involved I become on campus, the more I realize how much Centre has to offer beyond athletics. By the end of our lunch, Rachel was tired of hearing me go on and on about how amazing my time has been at Centre, but she plans on visiting me when season is over and so she'll soon get a taste of My CENTRE Life.
P.S. If you're considering Centre, deadlines are soon approaching (sorry to be the bearer of bad news), so come for a visit and see for yourself what makes this place one of the top liberal arts colleges in the nation! |
