It is soooooo cold... Please explain to me why there are four inches of snow on the ground despite the fact that spring term has officially started. I love the snow, but let's be serious. I'm not complaining or anything (I went sledding as soon as class was over), but I was just looking for a little sympathy because it is soooooo cold outside! I mean, if this is supposed to be spring term, let's bring on the sunshine and warm weather!
Now that I've said my peace about the cold weather, let me continue about more important happenings in my life. The past month of school is was what we call CentreTerm. You (yes, I am implying that you too should be a Centre student) take one class for three hours every day, five days of the week. Some classes have more flexible schedules and many take short or extended field trips.
I took World Labor Markets with Professor Fabritius, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I hadn't studied economics before, but found the class to be very interesting. I learned many things which are applicable to everyday life such as investing in the stock market, the affects of minimum wage on society, and about unemployment in nations around the world. Not only are the courses more in depth and specific in topic, class sizes are smaller, allowing you to develop stronger relationships with your classmates. The best part, however, is that after three weeks of class, there is winter break (and entire week off from class).
Now that you've been briefed on the happenings since my last entry, it's time to tell you about rush. At Centre, we rush second semester to insure that one has time to get adjusted to college life, begin relationships based on common interests, and to decide which Greek organization (if any) one feels most drawn to. The four day experience was worth the emotional highs and lows because I was introduced to so many amazing affiliated women. I could continue to tell you how valuable I found the recruitment process, but you don't have time for that.
Before you resume whatever you were doing before you checked up on My CENTRE Life, I want you to know that on bid day I opened an envelope to find that I received an invitation to join Kappa Alpha Theta. That's right, I'm a THETA, fulfilling my mother's legacy, but eager to make my own contributions to my chapter and the Greek community here at Centre.
Oh, one more thing...GO COLTS and Peyton Manning is the man!
