I can’t wait! Hey! Sarah here. Man, am I glad that summer has come! Waking up late, hanging out with friends during the day, and staying out 'til midnight at the movies and Starbucks, are the best rewards for a busy and strenuous senior year. Ahh, but it's bittersweet because I won't be returning to my beloved high school days; no more volleyball practice and games with my girls, no more KYA trips, no more homecomings, and soon all my friends and I will have to go our separate ways. As much as I'll miss the details of high school though, I can't wait to go to college this fall. You know, choosing Centre College was a long, but rather simple process for me. I remember having that first tingle of assurance and excitement about Centre being the college for me when our school had a college fair day. About 20 college representatives had set up booths all around our gym. We (seniors) were given about an hour to visit and talk with the colleges. Earlier that summer, I'd done a lot of research on America's top colleges, and had already become very impressed with Centre. I found Centre's booth and went straight to work. I wanted to put a face and voice with all the awesome things I'd read about Centre. As soon as I stepped up to the booth, I was greeted with great enthusiasm by one of the most personable and amiable people that I've ever met--yes it was Mr. Ned Frazer, haha. We talked and talked about all my interests and concerns, I read through every brochure available, and before I knew it the hour was almost up! Everyone had bags and bags full of brochures from a lot of colleges, but I only had one and that was stuff from Centre. After that a lot of other things happened that really assured me Centre was the place for me--like the time our family randomly decided to go up to Centre and take our own look around the campus, and that happened to be the day of a freshman orientation, and the time when I almost wasn't going to be able to go to Centre because of finance confusion/trouble, but Ned Frazer called my house and talked with me for hours making sure everything was understood and worked out. Centre was really the best college in Kentucky to me because it not only had the reputability and prestige that I was looking for in a college, but also that close-knit environment where I knew I'd truly be cared about. So as I await my life-changing transition to college this fall, I'm trying to savor these times with my friends and family, because I know I'll miss them and will probably cry after about a month from arrival. Bittersweet it all is, but there's more sweetness because I absolutely cannot wait to begin college! I'll see you in August, Centre!
