An airplane flight and a night of rest

Tomorrow is the day...I finally get to start the four-year period in my life called college. I don't really know what to expect but I'm very anxious to see what dorm life will be like.

I don't know what's more exciting, going to college or winning my first track meet outside of the United States. Puerto Rico was awesome and the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational was a great experience. There were teams from all over the Caribbean and the United States. The Caribbean Scholastic Invitational is a prestigious track meet that showcases talent from ages 15-20. I actually competed against a guy who was in college in Puerto Rico. I jumped 48' 11" to take the lead, and now I have a gold medal to bring back home with me. I'm looking forward to taking somewhat of a break while I'm on campus. I only have a couple more track meets left so I may actually get to enjoy being at "home" for the last part of my summer break.

I can't believe that my freshman year actually gets to start a month and a half early with an independent research project with Dr. Brian Cusato in the psychobiology department. I get to see what it's like to be on my own with no restrictions. I hope I can begin to set up the routine that I will go through when I go to college. I get to buy my own groceries tomorrow and I even get to cook my own food. (I'll definitely miss the home-cooked meals, but cereal isn't always so bad.) I just hope I don't turn to beanie weenies because I stocked up on those.

The only thing between college and me now is an airplane flight and a night of rest (or should I say deep sleep because I am completely exhausted). I have a few of my bags already packed but I don't really know what I want to take to campus with me. I don't want to empty out my room because then it'll feel like I'm leaving for good. Since I'm going to be doing summer research for a few weeks, I'll most definitely be coming back to stay a few nights. I really think this will be a great experience for me and I look forward to getting a little taste of college before classes officially start. I hope I meet a lot of new people and have fun. I also hope the roommate situation goes well because I've never really shared a room with anyone except my little brother. All in all, I think it will be great and I plan on enjoying Centre's great campus and wonderful environment.
