Oh my goodness

Welcome to my life. When I received an email about this, I thought I’d be too busy to do it. I soon found out that if I have about 15 minutes a week, I can get it done. So now I'm writing about what has gone on in my summer. I’d like to let you know how I feel in one phrase: “Oh my goodness!” I'd also like to say, “The Lord has truly blessed me.” I have never been so busy in my entire life.

For those who don’t know me, I’m a track athlete for an AAU team. I went to North Carolina the second week of June for Nike Outdoor Nationals. I placed second in triple jump and fifth in long jump. I then went to the national HOSA (Health Occupations Students Of America) conference where I won in job seeking skills. I didn't even expect to win (but it felt great). This was a unique experience...I'll explain more later.

So anyway, the next week I went to Puerto Rico for the Caribbean Scholastic Track Invitational—I won the triple jump and I didn’t do long jump. When I got back from Puerto Rico I had to start my summer research program at Centre. This job was very different because I had never touched a bird in my life, and now they have me picking them up and handling them. It took a lot of adjusting to, but now I can pick them up without being freaked out.

The reason I said “Oh my goodness” is because not only do I work at Centre, do AAU track, and work at Kroger; I'm also working on my newest Christian rap album that was supposed be finished in July. Of course, I had to postpone it until August 18th because we have a show that night, and I thought it would be perfect to release it that day. The show is part of “Rock Da ’Ville,” which is the biggest Christian Music festival in this area. I get to perform alongside GRITS, which is a big Christian hip-hop group. All in all my summer has been very busy and hectic; I get to be an escort in the fair pageant so at least I get to do something fun.

Anyway...the reason I chose Centre? I chose Centre because the campus is small, the classes are small, the teachers are very nice, and there's a track team. I turned down UK and U of L because they wouldn't be able to get me to med school in only 4 years. Centre has the best name when it comes to pre-med in the entire state. I don’t really know what to expect from Centre, so I’m anxious to get here and feel the pain of super-hard classes mixed with all the fun I had on my visits. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully I'll have some time to study my Bible a lot more and get my relationship with Christ stronger as I work on new music and ministries. The Lord has truly given me talents and abilities that I have to use to glorify him. I just need to get stronger in my faith so I can go out and spread his word to the world.

That’s my summer. Now I’m just looking forward to the next fours years at Centre.
