So many Centre jobs There're only four more weeks of school! I'm not anxious to get away from Centre, but I'm definitely ready for an end to all of the papers and exams. As we near the end of the term, we enter "crunch-time," when papers are assigned in most classes that usually require a good bit of time. So, most of my extracurricular hours are spent in front of a computer screen, typing away. I do, however, enjoy most of my classes, so this isn't always unbearable. I'm currently writing a paper for "History of Christian Thought" that I find pretty interesting, so I don't mind spending time on it.
I'm looking forward to the summer, during which I'll be working on campus here at Centre. I'd say I worked out a pretty good deal. I'll be living at the residence hall for no charge while working a full-time, 40-hour per week job. During these months, I'll be working on the campus grounds (i.e. mowing, mulching, etc.). I actually like this kind of work, so I'm pretty satisfied. I also get a week off for vacation, and I'm looking forward to that.
I've also started announcing home games for Colonels' sports. After showing an interest in announcing after the current announcer, J.J. McConaha, graduates this May, I was offered the job and started doing the Colonels' baseball games to prepare for next year. Sports have always been a great passion of mine, so I'm very happy with this development. I'm especially looking forward to calling football and basketball games next year.
As I wrote in a previous entry, I'm going to be an RA next year, and training for that job has already started. A couple of my other friends were also selected for the position, so it's been fun. I still haven't heard in which residence hall I'll be placed, but sophomore RA's are usually on freshman halls, so if any incoming students are reading this, I might be with you!
Basically, I'm just trying to do put the cap on a successful freshman year and as I prepare to enjoy a steady, straightforward summer.
