1) Hometown:
Winter Park, Florida (a suburb of Orlando).
2) Family/Pets:
My dad, Lindsay, an engineer; my mom, Marcia (pronounced Marsha), an artist; my 21-year old brother Chris, now serving in the Marine Corps at Edwards Air Force Base, and my twin brother Jared. See the pictures; he looks nothing like me!
3) High School:
Winter Park High School. Very large, but had a top notch International Baccalaureate program and awesome teachers!
4) Extracurricular activities:
Playing piano, horseback riding, sometimes volunteering.
5) High school career highlight:
Probably being one of the 17 valedictorians at my school. While I've never really enjoyed the limelight (ironic since I'm participating in My CENTRE Life!), it was pretty awesome to stand onstage in front of my entire high school class with a big gold medal around my neck.
6) Favorite past "My CENTRE Lifer":
Morgan (MCL-2)
7) The thing you are most looking forward to about Centre:
SEASONS! Here in Florida we have one season: hot (and hurricane season, technically). For some of December and into January, we might get a few weeks of cool weather, but that's about it. So I can't wait for fall and winter!
8) Your greatest apprehension about college:
Finding people I can relate to. I've lived in the same town my whole life, so I've always had friends that I've known forever. Making completely new ones without knowing anyone is a little daunting.
9) The way your parents feel about you moving out:
Happy! In the "we're-happy-cause-she's-happy" way, not the "thank-god-she's-outta-here" way.
10) Intended major(s):
Biology, en route to veterinary medicine; possibly a minor in Spanish.
11) If you could bring one performer/group to the Norton Center for the Arts, it would be:
Stomp. I've heard loads about them but never seen them. Or maybe Blue Man Group.
12) Worst movie ever:
Jeepers Creepers, hands down. Watch it—you'll see what I mean.
13) Most memorable trip/vacation:
To Seattle, Washington; it was so unlike any place I've ever been. The Pacific coast was amazing.
14) Favorite smell:
Horses! Not their manure or anything, just them. Told you I was an oddball!
15) Person you most admire:
My dad. Cliched, I know, but he's pretty much a self-made man who came from nothing. He's faced so many challenges in a very brave way. I can only hope to have as much determination as he does.
16) Person (living or dead) you'd most like to meet:
I hate that question, because I can never narrow it down to just one. Probably someone like Chaucer, because he would definitely have a lot to say about everything!
17) If stranded on a deserted island, what would be the one non-survival item you'd want with you?
A piano. They're just fun.
18) If you had thought of it first, the invention do wish you could have been credited with:
Refrigeration. Where would the world be without it? 19) Describe yourself in a haiku:
Likes to ride horses,
Enjoys learning and reading;
Most of all, has fun!
20) Why did you choose Centre?
Several reasons really. When I stepped out of my car on my first visit, I just knew it was right, because it was academically serious, but down-to-earth and low-key at the same time, just like me! Plus, I was tired of city life, and the idea of living in a small town in the middle of gorgeous Kentucky was too good to resist. The more people I met, the more I knew it was the place for me; everyone was friendly, and happy, and easygoing. Long story short, it was a perfect fit! |
