Ode to "My CENTRE Life"

As the semester is ending, I've run out of things to say;
I've told you about life at Centre in twelve hundred different ways!

You've seen my excitement over summer as I prepared to move,
You've watched me try to find my own social groove;
I've struggled often with balancing my coursework and my leisure;
I've explained how CentreTerm and its intensity can really be a pleasure.

Last time I expounded on the virtue of hanging in there until spring,
You've seen lots of pics,
And learned all of the tricks
For doing this whole "college" thing.

I told you about work-study, and taking care of mice,
How the professors are hardworking, dedicated, and of course, nice.
You've heard how I've had trouble seeing friendships to fruition,
And about the obstacles I've met in trying to pay tuition!

Of course I've had my share to say about the party scene;
How I don't partake,
(Was it a mistake?)
As of now, I'll stay sober—hope that's not too mean!

Leaving home was a challenge, but I made it through,
Fitting in here wasn't easy; it's hard when everything's new!
One year almost complete, it's hard to comprehend,
In September I certainly thought this year would never end!

If there's one thing you should know, one final piece of knowledge:
Don't think that it's the end,
That you'll never find friends,
Or that you made a mistake coming to college.

No matter who you are or where you come from, your first year will be tough;
After following my trials and tribulations, I think you've seen that well enough!
And while there'll be times when you'll wish you could go back to high-school,
If you're willing to reach out and test yourself, you'll see that college is pretty cool!

Where else can you play ultimate frisbee right after class?
Hang out in a dorm?
Refuse to conform?
Or learn how to blow Venetian glass?!

There's all kinds of stuff Centre has to offer, stuff I haven't even found;
Sports teams, Greek-life, and service opportunities are just a few that abound!
No matter how far into the year you get, it's never too late to get involved.
There are always challenges on campus that need to be solved.

I could go on longer, but I'm beginning to ramble, at least that much is clear,
So I'll say adieu
And I hope that you
Come to Centre and have a fantastic first year!
