A good grasp
In an earlier entry I wrote that my greatest apprehension was that I didn't have the discipline to study. However, I was surprised how quickly I adjusted to the academic life. The first week was a definite scare, but as the weeks progressed I felt that I had a good grasp on what was necessary to be successful. There are times, though, when a couple days or weeks can be jam-packed with tests, quizzes, and papers. But if you manage your time well, it's all manageable.
So far my favorite class is French. I only took Spanish in high school so French was a definite change. Sometimes I get the two languages mixed up and I end up speaking Franish (a little word a classmate made up that exactly describes my combination of French and Spanish words.) My teacher makes everything seem so simple. She creates activities that are fun and enjoyable. I'm glad we don't do strictly worksheets. That was getting really repetitive in high school!
I never have a dull moment or doze off to sleep in any of my classes. The teachers here are really good at engaging their students or doing certain things to make sure we stay attentive. Soon enough I'll be choosing classes for next semester. I hope they're as good as this semester! |
