It's summertime!

A couple weeks have passed since school ended and I'm detached from my Centre bubble. In all reality, life at Centre is simple. You have a set schedule, you don't necessarily have to get a job, so you just do homework and study. Since sprint term ended, I'm now frantically looking for a job, just some place that will earn me MONEY!

There are perks to summer, however, such as reuniting with high school friends and vacations. Within the last 24 hours I've arrived back from L.A. and Scottsdale, Arizona where I blew too much money; I'm officially in debt. When I arrived back home, my friends threw me a surprise party. Unfortunately I arrived at the party at 2 a.m. so most people had already left. But that made me realize how much I love my friends and how excited I am to be back in Shelbyville so that I can spend time with them. Because once August comes, we'll part again and we'll all be back in our own college bubbles.

So here are my plans for summer:
1. Get a J-O-B!
2. Attend a Kanye West concert featuring Rihanna and Lupe Fiasco.
3. Visit Chicago for a Cubs game.
4. Head to Centre to visit with friends in the area.
5. See the Cincinnati Masters and meet Andy Roddick and James Black again.
6. Read a lot of books.
7. Enjoy summer!

This past first year of school went by extremely fast and I now regret not slowing down so I could take it all in. I've been changed for the better thanks to Centre and it's begun to shape me into the person that I've been wanting to be. The next three years are going to be an adventure—and I'm fully packed and ready to go. I always thought people were crazy when they said they couldn't wait to get back to college, but now I understand. Centre gave me an exciting and thrilling first year and I'm sure it's only going to get better.

Please feel free to message me on Facebook or send me an e-mail ( maureen.pilkinton@centre.edu ) about any random questions you might have. If I can't answer it, I'm positive I can find someone who can.
