Rolling off the branch

Last week I jumped out of a tree. The trees on Centre's campus are pretty impressive, especially when the leaves change in the fall. Next to Cowan Dining Commons, there are two big trees that have had yellow leaves all November. Sadly, they all fell. But in an effort to keep the campus clean, we raked them into a big pile and proceeded to jump into them. Since the pile of leaves was almost as tall as me, I thought it would be a good idea to climb one of the tree's branches and try to jump into them from above. While in the tree, nerves kicked in. I'm not a big fan of heights, even very small heights, and I decided that being in the tree wasn't in my best interest. I basically freaked out, almost cried, and stayed glued to the same branch for about ten minutes. Finally, with a lot of persuasion from some people below, I rolled off the branch and fell into the pile of leaves.

Although days at Centre aren't always this amusing, I'm always finding something to keep busy. Weekends are a blur. Last weekend, SAC (the Student Activities Council), sponsored a free midnight movie at the local cinema. They showed Beowulf, American Gangster, and some other movie that I don't remember. We were informed that if we dressed up like a character from the movie Beowulf, the theatre would give us free popcorn and a drink. Being a big fan of popcorn, and free stuff, my roommate Cortney and I were off to the local Wal-Mart to buy supplies to become one of the characters. Although I ended up not buying anything, it was fun watching Cortney paint scales on her green sweatshirt to pose as a dragon. It was also fun going to the theatre, watching the movie, and eating Cortney's free popcorn.

Since that weekend, Thanksgiving break has passed and I've realized that I only have two weeks until the end of semester. Even though this makes me a little sad, I'm really, really excited that classes are going to be over soon. I'm tired of being stressed out and on edge. Not that I'm like that all the time, just when I have a really big paper due, or two tests on the same day, or finals next week...oh, finals. I'm trying not to get too worried about them. I've heard that finals week is the best of the year, and I've also heard it's the worst—honestly I'm not too eager to find out. But oh well. School is getting the best of me, but somehow I still find time to have too much fun.
