Surviving college

Ten things I've needed to survive this term (so far)...

1.)   warm hats
2.)   peanut butter and honey
3.)   La Hacienda (a local Mexican eatery)
4.)   my backpack
5.)   sleep!
6.)   oatmeal
7.)   hot chocolate
8.)   French-English dictionary
9.)   sunshine
10.) Tuesdays

... and the reasons why:

Warm hats, sunshine, hot chocolate — Needed because all of these things warm up my life.

14 degrees, 59 degrees, 42 degrees, 21 degrees, 37 degrees. These have been the approximate Fahrenheit temperatures over the past week. I really think the weather in Danville fluctuates more than any other place in the state. It's ridiculous. It's ugly, then nice, then ugly again. I like the rain, and the cold, but after awhile it becomes depressing. That's where the warm hats and hot chocolate come in. Each of these keeps me warm on days when everything else is dreary and cold. The days that include sunshine are the best, because not only does it warm my life but it makes it a lot brighter too.

Peanut butter and honey; La Hacienda; oatmeal — Basically, this is my diet.

Okay, so I obviously eat more than this, but I think these are the things I enjoy most. A trip to Cowan is not complete without some dish that contains peanut butter and honey. Whether it's bagels, toast, granola, bananas...peanut butter and honey make each of these better. La Hacienda has quickly become one of my favorite places in Danville to eat. It is a small authentic Mexican restaurant located on a road that I couldn't give you directions to. I really like it. I also eat oatmeal for breakfast almost every morning. I have an 8:00 a.m. class every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, so there's no way I wake up in time to go to Cowan. Instead, I eat oatmeal in my room, before class...I really like it too.

My backpack, French-English Dictionary — One makes my life better, the other worse.

I think my back is going to break because of my backpack, but I really don't know what I would do without it. I have classes from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, so I have to take all the books for my four classes with me in the morning. I feel like I'm going to topple over walking up stairs, but like I said, I would be lost without my backpack. French is becoming more complicated. Without my dictionary that I just acquired from my mom, I would be lost in that class as well.

Tuesdays and sleep — These are my two main energy sources. I don't have class on Tuesdays. I love to sleep. I think that explains why I need both of these.

So spring term is much better than last. I've adjusted to the workload, I'm motivated, and not so overwhelmed. Overall, life is great, and these are just a few things at Centre that make life a little better.
