1.) Hometown: My hometown is Malden, Massachusetts, also known as “the Dirty Den.” I’ve lived in Malden my whole life and have earned the status of a true Maldonian in every aspect of the word. I love my hometown; got to have pride in my city! Interestingly enough, Malden, MA seceded from England in May of 1776...three months before the rest of the country did. Oh yeah, and "Go Sox!"

2.) Family/Pets: Oh, the things I could say! I live with my mother and father—April and James; however, they go by Apes and Papa Dukes. I have a 20 year-old brother named Jim who currently attends Bridgewater State College. I also have a 23 year-old sister, Bobbi-Lynn, who's currently in graduate school at the University of Akron in Ohio. The best thing about my family is that my great-grandmother lives with us. Her name is Rita Walsh. She's 85 and the heart of the family.

As far as pets, I have two chihuahuas, Chicken and Peanut. They have more rights than anyone else in my house. I also have two cats named Shilo and Lily who live in my room for the majority of the day because it's worse than Alien vs. Predator when they tangle with the dogs downstairs.

3.) High School: My high school was practically my second home. Good ol' Malden High School, located in the “centre” of my city, has about 1800 students and is renowned for its diversity. We're not a suburban school or an urban school; we're just Malden High School. We have pride in what we do and are proud of our 150 years of existence. This high school is so unique and different that it makes us proud to be Maldonians. I always thought it was interesting that our mascot (Nedlam) is a lion, yet we are the golden tornadoes. Go figure!

4.) Extracurricular activities: During high school I was involved in absolutely everything. I thought of my high school career as a full time job, and trust me I was at MHS more than I was at my house.

Among the many activities of which I was a part, our school paper took up most of my time. I was editor-in-chief of The Blue and Gold during my senior year; it challenged me in several ways and I loved every moment of it. I was also in Project 540, a civic engagement club which focused on encouraging young adults to get involved in all levels of politics and civic issues. I was on the Project 540 leadership team and occasionally spoke to audiences of over 200 people. Because of Project 540, I decided to run for representative to the Malden School Committee, but my political aspirations certainly didn’t end there. I was also known to go to the State House in Boston to talk with the legislature and voice my opinions. I made another contribution at MHS by writing the script and directing a major show for our class of 2008 called The Wiz of 08. The 84-page script ran about a two and a half hours.

Honestly, I was involved in every school event imaginable, even our 150th celebration where alumni from all over the world came back to celebrate our history. I scanned hundreds of pictures and created a 45-minute slideshow of almost every class from 1929-2007. After all that, I came to the conclusion that sleep was for the weak. (Just kidding.)

5.) High school career highlight: My high school career highlight was probably receiving the Posse Foundation scholarship; it was like all my hard work had paid off. Truthfully, Posse was the deciding factor between private and public colleges for me. I was so happy to receive this scholarship because I instantly fell in love with Centre. When I walked on campus and saw like a hundred students on these huge inflatables during the College's Carnival celebration, I knew this school was for me. I actually remember seeing President Roush and his wife at the BBQ and Professor J.H. Atkins asked me, “How do you properly introduce yourself?” It was unforgettable. I have many other high points but I think getting Posse and then getting into Centre has to be the best.

6.) Favorite past "My CENTRE Lifer": My favorite past “My CENTRE Lifer” would have to be Maureen because we have a lot in common. I myself would also bring Tupac to the Norton Center because we all know he’s alive!

7.) The thing you are most looking forward to about Centre: I'm looking forward to the challenge and the experience of being 996.64 miles away from home. It’s like starting over; every one has a clean slate. I'm beyond excited about the opportunity to be part of Centre.

8.) Your greatest apprehension about college: I think it's fitting in or failing my classes. I'm also afraid to leave my home and kinda start a new life.

9.) The way your parents feel about you moving out: You know, I think they're okay with it, but I'm not really sure. When I got the Posse scholarship, I remember my mom saying, “Kentucky!? Kentucky!? Kentucky!?” But I know they're proud of me and know I'll succeed.

10.) Intended major(s) and minor(s): Sociology and government.

11.) If you could bring one performer/group to the College's Norton Center for the Arts, it would be: Okay, first off, this isn't fair because I'd make the perfect concert with multiple artists. I'd love to see Tupac and Elton John perform "Ghetto Gospel" and then Rage Against the Machine play with System of a Down.

12.) Worst movie ever: Can it be a genre? It'd have to be every single chick flick out there. But, because I have to pick one...it's The Notebook. It must be every single guy's nightmare to watch this start to finish.

13.) If given a million dollars to donate to an organization of your choosing, to what organization (for profit or not-for-profit) would you donate it: If I had a million dollars I'd donate it American Field Service (AFS) because they do so much good in almost every single country. I'm an AFS alumnus and I can relate; they honestly are globally involved, doing things some people can only dream of. They build schools, provide food, help build houses and encourage diversity and unity around the world.

14.) Favorite smell: Probably the smell of a nice buffalo chicken calzone.

15.) If you could have any one question answered before you die, it would be: What do we have to do to have world peace?

16.) Person (living or dead) with whom you'd most like to have dinner. In addition, where would you go to eat or what would you cook for them? I'd want to eat with Abraham Lincoln because of our summer reading book, Land of Lincoln; I'd actually like to see for myself if he was a good man or not. I'd take him to Hooters just to see his reaction; it'd probably be priceless.

17.) If stranded on a deserted island, what would be the one non-survival item you'd want with you? Under the condition that the Island was wireless, and it was just like Lost, I'd bring my laptop. If not, however, I'd bring a Bed Bath and Beyond store, for the sole reason it has beds, baths, and beyond.

18.) If you had thought of it first, with what invention do you wish you could have been credited? The wheel...those creative cavemen! It's so genius, but it looks so simple.

19.) Describe yourself in a haiku (5-7-5) or other poetic form:
I think I'm witty
I put bacon in salad
I love my girlfriend

20.) Why did you choose Centre? I chose Centre because Centre chose me! I honestly didn't know Centre existed until Posse, but after that I wanted Centre more than anything. I love the atmosphere down there and it just seems like a fun and challenging school. Also, Danville is like a gem in the middle of nowhere. At least, I'll have a Super Wal-Mart!
