Submit your pictures for Coolest Photo of the Summer contest

June 24, 2010 By Leigh Ivey
2009 Winner Winner of last summer’s photo contest, submitted by Will Jenkins
’10 and Whitney Sears ’10, shows the two students on Guana
Island, where they conducted research (and had time to relax).

Campus Center Kristen Baumgartner’s ’11 photo of the bohemian scene of Paris
took second place in 2009.

Summer 2009 Amanda Glueck ’10 placed third in last summer’s contest with this
photo of herself receiving a kiss from a five-year-old dolphin.

Centre College students spend their summers doing extraordinary things. Some travel to the Caribbean to do scientific research. Some participate in internships with children’s museums, publishing houses, political campaigns, oversees companies and non-profit organizations. And some, of course, use the long summer days to travel and sight see.

Whatever they’re doing, students run across countless photo ops throughout their summer vacations, and the Communications Office wants to get a glimpse of these summer experiences through photos.

As they do every year, the Communications Office is holding a “Coolest Photo of the Summer” contest. Centre students (including new incoming and transfer students) are invited to submit their photos, and the contestant who captures the true essence of summer will receive a $50 gift card. The winning photo, along with the second- and third-place submissions, will also be displayed in the College’s Campus Center and The Hub Coffee House for all to enjoy.

To submit your photos, send digital pictures via e-mail to Cindy Long at cindy.long@centre.edu. Be sure to identify everyone in the picture and include a brief description of what’s happening. Make sure your pictures are at least 300 dpi. (The higher the resolution the better.)

Top selections will be shown as Photos of the Week throughout the summer, and the winner will be announced on August 19.
